TV writers, producers, executives and screenwriters will all be on stage at the Benzaquen Hall at the DiMenna Center at 450 West 37th Street (corner of 37th Street & 10th Avenue) Saturday, October 10th from 7:30 AM – 10 PM for an in-depth seminar devoted to selling your film, TV series, screenplay or graphic novel as part of New York Super Week.

This three-hour master class will feature some of the leading names working in the field today, all sharing extensive advice and experiences including:

Each segment of the program which ranges from “Breaking Good: How To create the Perfect Pilot Pitch,” “Executive Session: What’s Selling in Television Today and How To Get Your Show Made!” “Inside The Writers Room” and “In the Movie Business of Madness: How Film & TV is Changing and How That Can Work For You,” plus go behind the scenes and into the writers room of hit shows like The Flash, TNT’s upcoming Agent X, Star Wars: Rebels, Parenthood and more.

“Whether you’re looking to break into the highly competitive worlds of Hollywood screenwriting or television production, create your own comic book or publish your first novel — or just want insider insight into what goes into making your favorite TV shows and movies — this is the seminar for you,” says Mark A. Altman and a co-executive producer on TNT’s Agent X and writer/producer on such shows as Castle, Necessary Roughness and Femme Fatales as well as the beloved feature film, Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner. “This Super Week seminar features a series of panels by real writers and producers and executives with established credits in film, television, comics and publishing who can tell you how the industry is changing dramatically and why there has never been a better time to make and sell your own projects and how to do that.”

All segments will include Q&A opportunities, giving attendees the chance to interact directly with the panelists and learn from their experiences in movies, television and publishing.

GABRIELLE STANTON (The Flash, Executive Producer)

GABRIELLE STANTON is a veteran television writer/producer who is currently Executive Producer of CW’s hit series, The Flash, Gabrielle Stanton has contributed to a wide variety of television dramas. Her extensive list of credits include series such as Farscape, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Castle, The Vampire Diaries, Haven and Arrow.

 

As a Supervising Producer on Grey’s Anatomy, Stanton earned a Writers Guild of America Award and two nominations. She also shared a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series category. For her work on Ugly Betty as Supervising Producer, Stanton received another Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. As Executive Producer of the CBS series Moonlight she shared a People’s Choice Award for Best New Series.

 

An Executive Producer of the Syfy series Haven, Gabrielle served as the show’s showrunner for four seasons. She is currently Executive Producer on the CW’s hit series The Flash.

 

 

CRAIG ENGLER (Z Nation, Co-Executive Producer) 

CRAIG ENGLER is currently a co-executive producer and writer for Syfy's new zombie series Z Nation. He helped develop the concept for the show, which is loosely based on his successful 2011 movie Zombie Apocalypse. Before that he was an executive at Syfy channel for more than 10 years.

As part of the network's Senior Leadership Team he read all scripts and pitches the network was considering making and was an integral part of the greenlight process, working on projects ranging from Battlestar Galactica to Defiance. 

 

STEVE MELCHING (Star Wars: Rebels, The Clone Wars)

STEVEN MELCHING is an Emmy-nominated writer, story editor and producer who has worked on dozens of animated television series over his 20-year career. Specializing in boys action/adventure, if the show has the words "Man," "Extreme," or "Robot" in the title there's a good chance he contributed to it.  His credits include X-Men, Jackie Chan Adventures, Men In black, Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman: The Brave & The Bold, Transformers Prime and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. More recently he's been working on Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars: Rebels. 

 

SARAH WATSON (Parenthood, Executive Producer) 

SARAH WATSON is a writer and Executive Producer of the critically acclaimed NBC drama, Parenthood. Her other credits include About A Boy, The Middleman, The Unusuals, Lipstick Jungle and Standoff among other series. 

 

A Northern California native, Sarah studied English and American Literature at UCLA before beginning her career in television. When not writing on Parenthood she can be found in various Los Angeles coffee shops working on her first novel, an excerpt of which was selected as a finalist for the James Kirkwood Literary Prize.

 

MARK A. ALTMAN (Agent X, Co-Executive Producer) 

MARK A. ALTMAN is currently Co-Executive Producer on TNT’S Agent X and along with Steve Kriozere, he has been a writer/producer on such series as ABC's Castle and USA Network's Necessary Roughness and has sold numerous pilots and feature scripts. Altman is also the co-creator and Executive Producer of Femme Fatales, the international hit series steeped in classic film noir and pulp fiction for HBO/Cinemax, which Entertainment Weekly called "a badass-chick anthology series" and the Huffington Post hails as "Pulpy Fun." Altman also directed several episodes of the series.

 

In addition, Altman has produced such films as the $30 million film adaptation of the bestselling video game, DOA: Dead Or Alive, as well as Lionsgate's House of the Dead, based on the videogame series from Sega as well as the far superior sequel, House of the Dead 2, which was released theatrically overseas by Sony. He also produced James Gunn’s The Specials, about a dysfunctional superhero team starring Thomas Haden Church and Rob Lowe.

 

His first film was the award winning romantic comedy, Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner and Eric McCormack, which he wrote and produced and won the WGA Award for Best New Writer at the AFI Film Festival. His book, “The Fifty Year Mission” (w/ Edward Gross), an oral history of Star Trek, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in 2016. He is also a member of the Television Academy.
